In August, Uddcomb attended CIGRE 2026 in Paris, one of the world’s most important meeting places for professionals involved in power transmission, electrical infrastructure, and the future development of energy systems. CIGRE is a global organization that brings together utilities, manufacturers, researchers, consultants, and technology providers to share knowledge and develop solutions for the evolving power industry. The Paris Session is widely regarded as one of the most influential events in the global power sector.

For Uddcomb, this year’s event was particularly valuable because it gathered virtually the entire international cable manufacturing industry in one place. Leading cable producers from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America participated, creating a unique opportunity to discuss market developments, future investments, and emerging industry needs.

The rapid expansion of renewable energy, offshore wind farms, interconnectors, and grid modernization projects continues to drive unprecedented demand for high-voltage and subsea power cables. As a result, new cable factories are being built while existing facilities are expanding production capacity to meet growing global demand. CIGRE therefore served as a natural forum for discussions around manufacturing efficiency, automation, safety, and cable handling technology.

This market development presents significant opportunities for Uddcomb. Our portfolio of cable carousels, storage systems, and automated cable handling solutions addresses several of the key challenges facing cable manufacturers today. These include increasing production capacity, improving workplace safety, reducing the risk of cable damage, and optimizing logistics throughout the manufacturing process. These trends are also closely aligned with Uddcomb’s long-term strategy, where automation and improved operator support are identified as important growth areas.

During the week, the Uddcomb team held numerous meetings with both existing customers and new industry contacts from across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. There was strong interest in our concentric and double cable carousel and turntable solutions combined with our semiautomatic lay-arm solutions which enable the storage of extensive cable volumes while simultaneously supporting loading and unloading operations to maximize operational efficiency.

Beyond the valuable customer and partner discussions, CIGRE once again demonstrated the strength and long-term potential of the global cable industry. With major investments taking place across power transmission and energy infrastructure projects worldwide, the need for innovative, safe, and efficient cable handling solutions continues to grow.

We leave CIGRE 2026 with new insights, strengthened relationships, and exciting business opportunities. As the world’s energy infrastructure continues to expand and evolve, Uddcomb remains committed to supporting the cable industry with innovative solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Together, we are driving the cable industry forward.
