Case study: Nuclear

Training and qualification of WPQRs for nuclear welding applications based on remote controlled TIG / Orbital welding

Description

Problem

Planned or unplanned welding repairs in nuclear power plants is required on a regular basis in various applications such as pipes, nozzles, internals etc. If nuclear power plants have limited readiness for an advanced welding repair the outage period related to preparations and execution of a repair can be extensive.

Solution

Uddcomb have developed a set of welding procedures for remote controlled orbital TIG welding applications customized for nuclear quality requirements which can be used for either planned or unplanned welding repair projects.

Outcome

Based on these welding procedure sets UDDCOMB can offer "readiness" repair projects for nuclear power plants that would like to be prepared for planned or unplanned advanced welding repairs in order to avoid extenisve loss of production
